It was 4:15am on a Saturday morning January 2014. I cleaned myself up and got dressed for work. My tools were already loaded in the truck from the day before. I grabbed my keys, wallet, a coffee, and was out the door. I got in my truck, turned it on, lit a cigarette, and rolled down the window. The air was so damn cold. I had a nice hangover so the cold air felt good to me. I turned on the iPod and Otis came on. For some reason on this day I could feel every word and the music hit me in my fucking soul. The song was called Cigarettes and Coffee.
I sat in my truck and listened to that track over and over. His music helped me through some hard times.
A lot has changed since then but I never forgot that day. This painting is dedicated to the life and music of this great musician. Otis Redding.
